Bayern Won’t Name a Price for Michael Olise — Liverpool and Real Madrid Got the Message

The transfer noise matters because Olise has become one of Bayern’s most important attacking players, but Bayern hold an unusually strong hand. His contract runs until 2029, there is no release clause, and the club’s sporting leadership is publicly framing him as part of the team they want to build around rather than an asset they are preparing to cash in on.
That does not make the long-term question disappear. Bayern also know that the next major decision is likely to be an extension, and the club wants to understand by next summer whether Olise is leaning toward committing beyond his current deal. For Liverpool and Real Madrid, that makes the story less about an imminent move and more about whether any opening develops at all.
Bayern’s message is bigger than any transfer fee
Max Eberl’s position is straightforward: a club trying to win the Champions League should not begin the conversation by deciding how much money would make it surrender one of its best players. That stance is important because transfer speculation around elite attackers often turns into an imagined auction long before the selling club has shown any willingness to negotiate.
Bayern do not currently need to negotiate. Olise has three years remaining on his agreement, and the absence of a release clause means there is no fixed mechanism another club can trigger. Unless the player’s own position changes, Bayern can simply continue using him as a cornerstone of Vincent Kompany’s attack.
The situation also illustrates the difference between interest and leverage. Real Madrid and Liverpool can admire Olise, monitor his future and even view him as an ideal long-term target. None of that creates a deal by itself. Bayern control the contract, Olise has not publicly pushed for an exit, and the German champions have sporting reasons to resist weakening an attack built to compete deep into Europe.
Olise’s value to Bayern is not based on potential alone. Since arriving from Crystal Palace, he has shown that his Premier League creativity translates to a team expected to dominate possession and break down compact defenses. He can create from the right, drift inside onto his stronger left foot, combine around the box and contribute goals as well as assists. That combination is difficult to replace even for a club with Bayern’s resources.
Why Liverpool and Real Madrid keep appearing around Olise
The clubs linked with Olise make sense even if a transfer is not currently available. Real Madrid routinely look for players who can decide Champions League knockout matches, and a left-footed right-sided attacker with Olise’s combination of one-on-one ability and final-ball quality fits the profile of a player who could thrive around other elite forwards.
Liverpool’s connection is equally easy to understand. Olise knows English football from his years at Crystal Palace, so there would be less uncertainty about whether his game can handle Premier League speed and physicality. Liverpool have also shown that they are willing to spend aggressively when they believe a player can anchor the next version of their attack.
But Bayern’s strongest argument is sporting rather than financial. Olise is already in a system that gives him responsibility, a coach who trusts his creativity and a squad designed to challenge for the Bundesliga and Champions League. Leaving would not simply mean moving to another famous badge. It would mean giving up a central role in one elite project for a different one.
That is why Bayern’s European season could matter. If Kompany’s side look capable of winning the Champions League, the incentive to stay becomes easier to understand. If Bayern fall short again and another superclub arrives with a convincing sporting plan, the conversation could become more complicated next summer. For now, however, those possibilities remain hypothetical rather than evidence that a move is developing.
The timing also favors Bayern. They do not need an immediate answer. With a deal through 2029, the club can allow the season to develop before turning an extension into a major negotiation. That gives Olise time to judge the direction of the team while giving Bayern time to demonstrate why Munich should remain the place for his prime years.
The real deadline is next summer, not the next transfer rumor
The most meaningful date in the story is therefore not the next transfer window. It is next summer, when Bayern expect to have a clearer sense of whether Olise wants to extend his stay. That is a very different situation from a player entering the final year of a deal or a club being forced to sell before losing leverage.
If Olise is open to extending, Bayern can try to secure one of Europe’s leading attacking talents through the heart of his prime. A new agreement would also shut down much of the recurring transfer discussion. If he is reluctant, Bayern would still have two years left on the existing contract and enough time to decide whether to keep pushing for a renewal or eventually consider offers.
For Liverpool and Real Madrid, patience may be the only realistic strategy. Any serious pursuit depends on Olise first becoming available in a meaningful sense. Until then, the strongest evidence points toward Bayern treating him as a player they need for their own ambitions, not as the centerpiece of a future sale.
There is a broader reason Bayern are taking that position. Clubs at the very top of Europe spend enormous amounts trying to find attackers who can create advantages against elite defenses. Once a player proves he can do that consistently, replacing him can cost as much as keeping him. Selling Olise for a huge fee would only create another problem: finding someone with comparable production, age, technical quality and Champions League upside.
That makes this season a live audition for the project as much as for the player. Bayern want to convince Olise that the biggest trophies are reachable in Munich. Olise can continue proving that he belongs among the players around whom Champions League contenders are built. And the clubs watching from England and Spain will be waiting to see whether the relationship moves toward a longer contract or creates an opening.
For now, Bayern have drawn the line clearly. Olise is under contract, there is no release clause, and the club’s priority is winning rather than naming a number. The transfer story may keep returning because the player is good enough to interest almost anyone. But the next decisive move belongs to Olise and Bayern, not to the clubs circling from outside.
