Rotterdam P2 2026 champions celebrating with their trophies

Rotterdam Paid Its Champions — But the Ranking Value Is Even Bigger

GOATIFY

Rotterdam did more than crown two winning pairs. The 2026 P2 also put a useful number on what success at this level of Premier Padel is worth. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia completed another title run on the men's side, while Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero backed up their Paris Major triumph with another trophy in the women's draw.

The event distributed €264,534 in total prize money, split between the men's and women's competitions. That makes Rotterdam a useful snapshot of the economics of a P2: meaningful money, but still a level where ranking points, momentum and the next tournament can matter as much as the cheque itself.

Coello and Tapia turned another title into another layer of season-long value

Coello and Tapia's 6-3, 6-2 final win over Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz gave the world No. 1 pair their third consecutive Rotterdam title and their tenth trophy of the 2026 season. The prize-money story adds another layer to that dominance. Current reporting lists €13,960 for each men's champion, with the finalists also receiving a substantial payout for reaching Sunday.

The broader men's pool was €154,534. That matters because a P2 does not reward only the champions. Semifinalists, quarterfinalists and players who survive the early rounds all leave with earnings, creating a financial ladder that mirrors the ranking ladder. For the elite pairs, the cheque is part of a much larger season. For players fighting to establish themselves, one extra round can materially change the economics of a week.

Rotterdam also showed why prize money cannot be separated from competitive position. Coello and Tapia did not simply collect another payment; they widened their sporting advantage at a tournament where several leading rivals exited early. Stupaczuk and Sanz, meanwhile, left without the trophy but with a breakthrough final, restored seeding position and another result that makes future draws more favorable. The money follows the result, but the result can keep paying off after the event is over.

Sánchez and Ustero’s €11,000 each came with an even bigger competitive return

Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero during the Rotterdam P2 2026 final

The women's champions left Rotterdam with a different kind of momentum. Sánchez and Ustero beat Paula Josemaría and Bea González 6-4, 6-4 in the final after also defeating world No. 1 pair Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea in the semifinal. Each champion earned €11,000, while the women's competition carried a €110,000 pool.

That payday arrived one tournament after Sánchez and Ustero won the Paris Major, a much bigger ranking haul. Across Paris and Rotterdam they collected 2,600 ranking points, turning a hot stretch into a genuine shift near the top of the women's game. The financial reward in Rotterdam is therefore almost secondary to what the title does for their position, confidence and leverage in the Race.

The contrast is useful. Premier Padel's P2 tier sits below the Majors and P1 events, so the cheque is smaller than at the tour's biggest stops. Yet a P2 can still change a season. A title can move a pair up the rankings, improve future seeding, reduce the chance of meeting another elite team early and create a better path through the next draw. Sánchez and Ustero are a clear example: the Rotterdam money is real, but the competitive value of beating the top two seeded pairs in consecutive rounds is even larger.

Rotterdam's €264,534 purse tells only part of the story. Coello and Tapia added another title, another payout and more separation at the top. Sánchez and Ustero added a second straight trophy and strengthened the case that the women's hierarchy is changing.

For both winning pairs, the best return from Rotterdam is not simply what landed in the bank account. It is the combination of money, ranking points, seeding and momentum — four rewards that can compound over the rest of the season.
