1. Broad jump or countermovement jump: 4 sets of 3 repetitions

Do not add maximal sprints to the end of a high-volume leg workout simply because you still have energy to spend. Fatigue changes mechanics, and speed work is most useful when the athlete can produce high-quality positions and force. You can finish the workout with low-intensity conditioning, but save true maximal efforts for when you can recover from them.

For weekly scheduling, leave at least 48 hours between demanding lower-body sessions when possible. A sample week might include a power-and-strength leg day on Monday, upper-body training on Tuesday, easy aerobic work on Wednesday, and sprint or sport practice on Thursday. Your own schedule may differ, but avoid stacking hard squats, maximal sprints, intense jumping, and long downhill running on consecutive days.
