Mudbi Favors Breaks Through in a Crowded Classic Physique Field

St. Petersburg delivered a fresh Classic Physique champion on October 17, 2026. Mudbi Favors won the Hurricane Pro ahead of Daniel Fabode and Dominic Carter, taking the top spot in the event's deepest open lineup. The official placings put Favors first with a judging total of three, Fabode second with six, and Carter third with ten. Jean Biguelini followed in fourth, one point behind Carter, while Mahfuz Hawit completed the top five. In a division where tiny differences in silhouette and presentation can separate several excellent athletes, that ordering matters more than a single dramatic stage photograph.
Favors' victory was a meaningful career milestone, not simply a routine defense of an established title. The previous two Hurricane Pro Classic champions had been Justin Badurina, who was absent from this year's field. Favors had previously come close at major professional contests, including a runner-up result at the 2021 Pittsburgh Pro. A first professional win after several seasons of competitive experience says something about the slow, uneven nature of bodybuilding progress: a physique can improve substantially without every contest placing moving in a straight line.
Classic Physique is judged as a complete presentation. Muscularity matters, but so do balance, proportions, conditioning, shape, and the ability to show the physique in poses that make those qualities obvious. A competitor with bigger arms can lose ground if the waist looks blocky, the legs lag, or the athlete cannot display the back effectively. That is why the phrase “most muscular” is not automatically the same as “best Classic Physique.” The judges compare the whole package against the other people standing beside it.
The depth of the field made the result more interesting. Fabode had also finished second at the Dominican Republic Pro in September; Carter arrived with a recent third place from the Southern Muscle Showdown. These were not anonymous entrants waiting for a favorite to walk away with a trophy. Favors had to beat athletes who were already competitive in the current season, and his placing reflects how the panel ranked those bodies on that particular day.
For fans watching future shows, pay attention to the comparisons rather than one carefully selected individual pose. Watch whether an athlete's upper and lower body stay proportionate from multiple angles, whether the midsection remains controlled, and whether conditioning survives the transition between poses. A stage-ready physique is a moving three-dimensional presentation, not an Instagram still. Favors' breakthrough is a reminder that a convincing overall look can matter more than winning one body part.
Alexander Toplyn Takes Men's Physique in a Tight First-Place Battle

The Men's Physique result was especially close at the top. Alexander Toplyn won with a judging total of four, while Emile Walker took second with five. Deandre Johnson was third on nine, followed by Juan Manuel Gochez and Burak King. The narrow one-point difference between the first two places is a better description of the contest than any claim that one athlete completely dominated the stage. It was a high-level comparison in which the panel ultimately preferred Toplyn.
Toplyn's result also continued a strong run rather than appearing out of nowhere. His previous professional win came at the 2024 Optimum Classic Pro, and he had recorded several top-four finishes in 2026. Most recently, he had been second at the Pharlabs Mexico Pro. Walker entered with momentum of his own after victories at the Ace of Stage Pro and EVLS Prague Pro on consecutive weekends. That recent form made the contest a real test of whether a successful run can be sustained when the lineup changes.
Men's Physique emphasizes a broad, athletic upper body, an appealing V-taper, conditioning, and polished presentation. The board shorts change the visual comparison: unlike Classic Physique, competitors are not presenting their full thighs in the same way. The shoulders, lats, chest, midsection, and how the torso looks while relaxed or turning become especially important. A small improvement in lat width or shoulder roundness can alter the entire outline, but only if the athlete controls the waist and keeps the pose balanced.
That does not mean every recreational lifter should copy a professional's stage preparation. The extremely lean condition needed for a competition is temporary and demanding. The transferable lesson is simpler: a back that creates width, delts that extend the frame, and consistent trunk control have a huge influence on the appearance of the upper body. For most people, sensible progression in pull-ups or pulldowns, chest-supported rows, lateral raises, and pressing will do more than chasing a new isolation gimmick each week.
There is also a useful distinction between strength and appearance. You can row an enormous load while letting the torso do much of the work, yet still struggle to develop the upper-back shape you want. The best bodybuilding sets are not necessarily the ones with the biggest number attached. They are the ones that expose the intended muscle to a hard, repeatable stimulus through a useful range of motion. Toplyn's narrow win makes the visual stakes of that distinction easy to appreciate.
Jeanne Kassel Wins Figure Again and Secures Her 2027 Olympia Place

Germany's Jeanne Kassel added another Figure trophy to a remarkable 2026 season. She finished first at the Hurricane Pro with a judging total of three, ahead of Lauren Calderoni on six and Jasmine Shier on ten. Katharina Kolbe was close behind Shier with eleven, and Leah Sterling rounded out the top five. Kassel's result came after runner-up finishes at the Balkan Grand Prix Pro and EVLS Prague Pro on the preceding weekends, so it was a timely return to the top rather than an isolated appearance.
She had already won the Puerto Rico Pro, Battle of the Bodies Pro, and New York Pro earlier in the year. The Hurricane Pro therefore made four professional victories in 2026, although the qualification calendar makes this fourth win more consequential than the raw total suggests. The 2027 Olympia qualification window began on August 31, 2026. Figure is among the divisions in which an open professional contest victory inside that window provides an automatic Olympia place. Kassel's earlier wins belonged to the previous qualification period; the St. Petersburg result secured her place in the new one.
Figure has its own visual standard, distinct from Bikini and Women's Physique. Athletes need conspicuous muscular development, particularly through the shoulders and back, with clear balance between upper and lower body. The presentation should be athletic, symmetrical, and controlled rather than a simple contest to see who can display the most extreme muscle size. Judges assess how the body looks from several angles and whether conditioning supports the shape without overwhelming the division's intended look.
That creates a training lesson that works far beyond competition. Deltoid width and upper-back thickness change the outline of the torso, but they must be developed alongside glutes, quads, hamstrings, and overall posture. A plan built entirely around lateral raises will not produce a complete Figure-style shape. Neither will training legs relentlessly while neglecting back work. The visible balance comes from years of relatively boring, intelligently distributed effort.
For a practical noncompetitive template, use two weekly upper-body sessions and two lower-body sessions. Include a vertical pull, a supported row, a pressing pattern, and direct lateral-delt work across the upper days. Pair squat or leg-press work with a hinge and glute-focused movement across the lower days. Start with roughly two or three challenging sets per exercise, then add volume only when recovery and progression justify it. Kassel's win is a sporting result, not a prescription to chase contest leanness, but the emphasis on proportion is useful for almost anyone pursuing an aesthetic physique.
Roxana Marquez Claims Bikini and Completes the Two-Win Qualification Route

Roxana Marquez won the Hurricane Pro Bikini division for Mexico, finishing ahead of Romania's Iulia Baba and American Taylor Crowell. The official totals were three, six, and nine respectively, with Mahsa Akbarimehr fourth and Savana Findley fifth. The win matters because it was Marquez's second open professional victory inside the 2027 Olympia qualification window, following the Dominican Republic Pro in September. Under the current Bikini system, two open wins in that period secure an automatic Olympia place.
Marquez had been active across the season, collecting strong results even when she did not win. That is an underrated feature of a points-based qualification race. The field changes from event to event, and a competitor who repeatedly places near the top can keep building a route toward the Olympia. But two wins are cleaner than spending the next several months watching the standings and hoping the points threshold holds. With this result, Marquez moved from chasing a mathematical possibility to holding a direct qualification route.
Bikini judging differs substantially from Figure. The desired look is athletic and balanced, with developed glutes and legs, a defined but not excessively muscular upper body, and presentation that matches the division. A Bikini athlete does not simply train like a smaller Figure competitor. The category rewards a specific degree and distribution of development. An athlete can look outstanding in isolation and still be less competitive if her conditioning or muscle size does not fit what the judges are rewarding that day.
It is easy to overinterpret a stage photograph. Lighting, posing angle, skin tone, tan, camera distance, and the exact moment of the shot can all exaggerate or hide details. The more reliable comparison is a full lineup under the same lights, especially the quarter turns and repeated callouts. Even then, viewers should remember that the scorecard records a judging decision, not a laboratory measurement of which body is “best.” Aesthetic sport is structured and skillful, but its outcomes remain comparative.
For gym-goers interested in a balanced lower-body emphasis, the useful training principles are straightforward. Progress a squat or leg-press pattern, a hip hinge, a unilateral leg exercise, and a glute isolation movement over time. Keep some upper-body pulling and pressing in the program rather than treating the torso as an afterthought. Most people will look and feel better by building strength and muscle at a sustainable body-fat level than by trying to maintain the extreme condition of a competition weekend. Marquez's victory celebrates competitive precision; it does not make stage preparation a normal fitness requirement.
The 2027 Olympia Rules: Why Two Champions Qualified and Two Earned Points

Four open champions left St. Petersburg with trophies, but their Olympia consequences were not identical. That is because the 2027 qualification system divides bodybuilding categories into different pathways. Figure winners at ordinary open professional shows qualify automatically. Classic Physique, Men's Physique, Bikini, and Wellness generally use a points system, with automatic qualification available through two open contest wins during the window or a victory at certain designated major shows. Confusing those rules can make an ordinary result look more decisive than it is.
The 2027 qualification window runs from August 31, 2026, through September 12, 2027. In the four points divisions, the top twenty in the final standings qualify. At standard open shows, first place earns ten points, second four, third three, fourth two, and fifth one. The larger designated events have their own qualification and points scale. Results outside the qualification window do not count toward the new race, even when they happened earlier in the same calendar year.
Applied to the Hurricane Pro, Kassel qualified by winning Figure. Marquez qualified by securing her second open Bikini victory during the window. Favors' Classic Physique win earned ten points but did not by itself guarantee a 2027 Olympia place. Toplyn likewise gained ten Men's Physique points, adding to the standings position he had already built. Their results improved their routes substantially, but describing all four winners as newly qualified would be inaccurate.
There is another nuance: a high points total is not a fixed guarantee until the period closes, because the qualification line is a ranking, not a universal score threshold. A competitor might hold a comfortable position in October and still need to compete later if enough rivals move past. Conversely, a second open win can remove the uncertainty entirely. That strategic difference helps explain why athletes sometimes enter multiple events in quick succession even after earning a title.
Masters victories also deserve their own context. The Hurricane Pro hosted numerous age-group categories alongside the open classes, and those wins are meaningful achievements. But an age-group title is not automatically equivalent to winning an open Olympia qualifier. When reading a result graphic, check the division, age category, contest tier, and qualification dates before drawing conclusions. The winner's name alone is only the beginning of the story.
What Recreational Lifters Can Actually Learn From These Stage Physiques

There is a temptation after every professional bodybuilding show to search for the winner's exact training split, special supplement, or favorite exercise and treat it as the missing ingredient. The more useful lesson from the Hurricane Pro is less glamorous: successful physiques are built from years of progressive training, a clear sense of proportion, and the ability to present the result. Those qualities are visible across Classic Physique, Men's Physique, Figure, and Bikini even though the divisions reward different looks.
Start with your own priorities. If your upper body looks narrow, put deliberate effort into lats and lateral delts. If your legs lag, increase the quality and recoverable volume of squats, leg presses, hinges, and unilateral work. If the physique looks uneven, stop giving every muscle the same number of sets merely because a template says so. You can keep the strong areas on maintenance volume while allocating more productive work to the weak points. A plan that fits your actual needs beats copying the split of a person with completely different genetics, training history, and competitive goals.
A practical four-day example is simple. Day one: upper-body emphasis with a vertical pull, incline press, chest-supported row, lateral raise, and an arm exercise. Day two: lower-body emphasis with a squat pattern, Romanian deadlift, split squat, and calf work. Day three: upper-body variation with another pull, a horizontal press, rear-delt work, and arms. Day four: lower-body variation with a leg press, hip thrust, leg curl, and single-leg movement. Use roughly two to four hard sets per exercise, keep most work within one to three repetitions of failure, and record performance.
Progression should be measurable rather than theatrical. Pick a rep range, such as six to ten for compound lifts or ten to twenty for isolation work. Add repetitions with consistent form until you reach the top of the range, then raise the load slightly and rebuild. If performance stagnates, investigate sleep, food intake, fatigue, and total volume before adding another complicated intensity technique. Most lifters need fewer random exercises and more honest, repeatable sets.
Posing can teach useful body awareness without turning a gym-goer into a competitor. Practice standing tall, controlling the rib cage, setting the shoulder blades, and displaying the back without shrugging. A few minutes of controlled flexing can help you understand what different muscles actually do. But do not confuse the appearance of a stage physique with a sustainable everyday condition. Competition-level leanness, dehydration practices, and extreme dieting are not required for health or ordinary muscle growth. Take the training discipline and attention to balance; leave the pressure to look stage-ready all year to the people paid to compete.
